The internet has changed almost everything, and intellectual property law constitutes one of the most important aspects of its transformation.<\/p>\n<p>Old models are broken, no longer fitting how the world has changed, and we\u2019re not altogether sure with what to replace them.<\/p>\n<p>One of the key issues is whether we rewrite laws afresh or seek to modify traditional concepts to better meet the needs of our internet society.<\/p>\n<p>These key issues and their implications, along with the agencies that play significant roles in relation to \u2018internet governance\u2019 are explored in detail in this course.<\/p>\n<h3>Module A: Digital Copyright<\/h3>\n<p><strong>LWM24A<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction to digital copyright<\/li>\n<li>Copyright Directive and Digital Millennium Copyright Act<\/li>\n<li>Emerging copyright issues<\/li>\n<li>Licensing and rights management in the digital arena<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Module B: Trade Marks and Other Rights in Distinctive Signs Online<\/h3>\n<p><strong>LWM24B<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction to trade marks<\/li>\n<li>Developments in use of trade marks online<\/li>\n<li>Principle of territoriality and use of trade marks online<\/li>\n<li>Unfair competition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Module C: Domain Names<\/h3>\n<p><strong>LWM24C<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction to the mechanics of the domain name system<\/li>\n<li>Cybersquatting<\/li>\n<li>Recent developments concerning domain names and intellectual property<\/li>\n<li>Dispute resolution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Module D: Computer-Related Patents<\/h3>\n<p><strong>LWM24D<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Business methods patents<\/li>\n<li>Software patents<\/li>\n<li>Prior art effect<\/li>\n<li>Enforcement of rights<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Assessment<\/h3>\n<p>Each module is assessed by a 45-minute unseen written exam.<\/p>\n<h3>Sequence<\/h3>\n<p>The modules can be attempted in any order.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Contact Us info @ uol-law-tutors.com For Class Times And\/Or One-On-One Lessons.
