It also includes a detailed examination of the theory of children\u2019s rights and provides analysis of how they are transposed into law and legal practice.<\/p>\n<p>This course highlights some of the current problems in policies and practices relating to children, searches for a coherent theoretical basis in this area, and applies it to a range of children\u2019s issues.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is for you to develop a more child-centred understanding of children\u2019s rights and child law, and be able to use that understanding and knowledge to engage critically with policies and practices which impact on children\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n<h3>Module A:\u00a0Theoretical Issues and Children\u2019s Rights Mechanisms<\/h3>\n<p><strong>LWM35A<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An introduction to children\u2019s rights and constructions of \u2018the child\u2019<\/li>\n<li>The theoretical basis of children\u2019s rights<\/li>\n<li>The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989<\/li>\n<li>Regional children\u2019s rights mechanisms<\/li>\n<li>Children\u2019s rights in English domestic law<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Module B: The Core Principles of Children&#8217;s Rights Mechanisms<\/h3>\n<p><strong>LWM35B<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The best interests principle<\/li>\n<li>The right to life, survival and development<\/li>\n<li>Children\u2019s participation rights (1) \u2013 general principles<\/li>\n<li>Children\u2019s participation rights (2) \u2013 case studies<\/li>\n<li>Non-discrimination<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Module C: Specific Issues in Children\u2019s Rights (1)<\/h3>\n<p><strong>LWM35C<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The child, the family, and identity<\/li>\n<li>Children and the labour market<\/li>\n<li>The right to education<\/li>\n<li>Children and religion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Module D: Specific Issues in Children\u2019s Rights (2)<\/h3>\n<p><strong>LWM35D<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Juvenile justice<\/li>\n<li>Exploitation, sale of children and child pornography<\/li>\n<li>Street children<\/li>\n<li>Refugee and asylum-seeking children<\/li>\n<li>Children and armed conflict<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Assessment<\/h3>\n<p>Each module will be assessed by a 45-minute unseen written examination.<\/p>\n<h3>Sequence<\/h3>\n<p>The modules should be attempted in order.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Contact Us info @ uol-law-tutors.com For Class Times And\/Or One-On-One Lessons.
